Deep in the heart of the Black Lands lies the ancient city now known as Suvayu. The corruption of the Black Lands radiates outward across the island from the center of this city, with the exception of a few isolated areas surrounding other ruins, far less ancient. This is where the final conflict of the campaign takes place.
Although there is not much left of the city, the remnants still strongly suggest it's circular layout. Seven main roads radiate outward from the center of the city, where they disappear into a large hill. Much like a spiderweb, seven more circular roads surround the hill, allowing travel from one main road to the next circumventing the center.
At the inner end of each main road, a massive black spire juts upward out of the foot of the hill. The seven spires stretch no less then 50 feet into the sky, making the city highly visible from the surrounding area. Each spire has three flat sides, smooth and untarnished despite many years left unattended; the center of the city is faced by a flat face, the two remaining faces forming a point where the road originates. As the spires climb, they taper and curl in toward the center. These are the only visible features of the Obsidian Gate which lies under the city.
At the top of the hill is a dried stone fountain. It's style and age seem to suggest it's not as old as the city itself.
The ground in and surrounding the city is covered in a fine white powder akin to sand which has fallen from the failing buildings.
With the exception of the seven spires and fountain toward the center of the city, the once grand structures of Suvayu are in ill repair. What is left has a bizarre organic appearance, as if the buildings had sprung from the ground of their own accord. Homes and hovels once constructed of living plants and stone have since gone wild and died. The barren area leaves nothing but the elements to challenge the structures, leaving them sun-bleached and dry, slowly crumbling in the breeze.
The city's architecture seems unrelated to the sophisticated, ornate, and orderly style seen in the City of Light of the contemporary high chromatic.
Suvayu is surrounded by barren desert. With no life and very little magic to speak of, creatures of spirit roam free, attracted to the Obsidian Gate under the city. This is the most dangerous area of the Black Lands, and although some structures in Suvayu still provide suitable shelter, complications due to exposure, dehydration, and starvation are a serious risk. Because of the concentration of wandering spirits, just a little exhaustion is enough to invite full possession – leading to fits of unnecessary exertion, and commonly death. Some ways outside the city, some slow-growing plants cling desperately to life.
