Kinaso

kinaso

The ancient tongue of the Chromatic and the simpler of their two languages, Kinaso (kee-nah-soe) consists of only 24 glyphs and phonemes, and its words can be made up of anything from one of these characters to a better part of all of them. Kinaso is reserved for only a few purposes. First, it is used to speak about things observed in the sight of the third eye, Na. Second, it is used for names. Lastly, it is used for directional and cautionary signage. It is easy to learn the meaning of the letters, but hard to understand fully for any race that does not experience Na. Below is the list of letters and their approximate meanings. For some of the letters, like Ya and Yo, context is very important to their meaning. For letters like Ri and Si, the meaning is essentially fixed.

All races can learn to read and write in Kinaso, and speak a few words of it well enough to get along with the Primitive and the Advanced Chromatic at the level of a foreign tourist with several days of study. The words relating to the spectrum Na and No are so poorly transliterated into only into color names, masking most of their true meaning from humanoids. See Chromatic Physiology for more detail.
